No Nudes in Indian Edition of Playboy

Playboy, the world renowned sex -related entertainment magazine is thinking over launching its Indian Edition with pin ups and models dressed up to suit Indian norms and laws.

In the year 2004 sales of Playboy increased by 13 percent abroad but reduced by one Percent domestically. That’s the reason why Parent Company of Playboy is looking forward to international readers. Having about 200 million magazine readers, India seems like a tempting cake for Playboy.

India favors material that can be redeemed by virtue of its value like religious content, art or literature and as known to all Playboys doesn’t fit into the category. Keeping this in mind, Chief Executive of Playboy Enterprises, Christie Hefner, said that Indian version of Playboy will seriously focus upon pop culture, sports, fashion, interviews and lifestyles of the rich and famous. She further added that it would be an extension of Playboy but may not be called the same.

Playboy doesn’t sell for its articles anymore; it’s the pictures of poorly clad models which ensure its sales. Let’s see if it can really make it in India without those hot pics.
