All you need to know about ‘Sperm Allergy’

Sperm allergies are one of those rare medical conditions in women that can lead to a disastrous sex life. Most of the patients, when they consult a doctor as soon as they notice the symptoms, doctor wrongly diagnose sperm allergies for STIs. In most of the cases, apart from having a disastrous sex life, they tend to very bad health conditions as well.

Testing for Allergy

Testing for sperm allergy can be done in many ways. One way is to undergo a gynaecologic test under an experienced gynaecologist. Another method will be intradermal testing. In intradermal testing, a small amount of semen will be inserted under the skin thus testing for the allergy for sure. There are other tests available too like desensitization test which is usually done under the supervision of immunologist and an allergist. In this test, the diluted semen is placed in the vagina initially. Every 20 minutes, semen with lesser dilution is injected inside the vagina. This way, the test is carried out until your vagina is able to handle undiluted semen.

Sperm allergy occurs due to a protein in the semen, so switching partners can never be a solution to this problem. Effects of sperm allergy are evident in all places where sperm comes in contact with the skin, if you are prone to the allergy.
